Application of Mindstorms sensors in monitoring the fruit ripening process CIGR Journal

In the present study, investigations were conducted to analyse the possibility of using the Lego Mindstorms light and color sensors in agriculture. The appropriate design was made which consisting of these sensors and control units that provided the information on measured values. The changes in color of tomato fruit (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) during maturation process were registered by using the appropriate color and light sensors with the analysis of the possibility of monitoring fruit ripening process and registration of any pathological changes of color. Sapodilla (Manilkara zapota) is a climacteric fruit that ripens shortly after harvest. Studies on its conservation during storage have been mainly restricted to using low temperatures and modified atmospheres. In this study we investigated the influence of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) on the physiological and biochemical changes that sapodilla cell wall undergoes during ripening and evaluated its potential to preserve sapodilla fruits at postharvest. Molecular characterization and transcription analysis of DNA methyltransferase genes in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Genet. Mol. Biol.

Abstract DNA methylation plays an important role in plant growth and development, gene expression regulation, and maintenance of genome stability. However, only little information regarding stress-related DNA methyltransferases (MTases) genes is available in tomato. Here, we report the analysis of nine tomato MTases, which were categorized into four known subfamilies. Structural analysis suggested their DNA methylase domains are highly conserved, whereas the N-terminals are divergent. Abstract Psidium cattleyanum Sabine is an Atlantic Forest native species that presents some populations with red fruits and others with yellow fruits. This variation in fruit pigmentation in this species is an intriguing character that could be related to species evolution but still needs to be further explored. Our goal was to provide genomic information for these morphotypes to understand the molecular mechanisms of differences in fruit colour in this species.
